Happy New Year Everybody!
Bill and I made the long but welcome journey homewards for the festive season and while it was great to be back it was also insanely busy.
My poor hard-done-to mother had to whisk me off to London as she claimed she was getting withdrawal symptoms so just about the minute I landed in the U.K I was rattling down south on a train from Glasgow to London.
London was fabulous as usual. We squeezed in some amazing shows including the ever-christmassy Nutcracker by the English National Ballet – a personal favourite – and I also made a dent on my extremely belated Christmas shopping.
Jetlag didn’t get me down too badly either which is just as well because the second I got back from London I was off to Edinburgh to see friends, then back home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and before I knew it I was on a boat over to the Isle of Arran! After that it was back to Edinburgh for Hogmanay celebrations and then Bill and I scooted up north to join some other friends in a chalet for New Year – Part 2.
It was hardly a relaxing break, but it was wonderful to whizz about and see all the people and places we’ve missed over the past 11 months. Sadly, I did come down with a teensy cold – clearly I was made for warmer climes – but that hardly affected the festive fun being had.
Now we’re back in Melbourne things feel eerily quiet. I no longer have ten girlfriends blowing up my phone and no nephews (or siblings) running around giggling and screaming.
I think it’ll take a while for me to readjust to our Melbourne life again, but I am glad to be back and can’t wait to find out what 2015 will bring!
Hope you have a good one!
